About Jeff Troupe
Jeff Troupe was born and raised in Napa, California. When he was a high school freshman, Jeff enrolled in his first art class at Napa High and it was there that he first began oil painting. Jeff moved to San Francisco to attend San Francisco State University and majored in Fine Art, later transferring to the Academy of Art University. At the Academy, his initial focus was oil painting. He studied under Brian Blood and Randall Sexton, both of whom specialized in landscape paintings done in the plein air method. These two professors largely influenced Jeff’s style and enthusiasm, for painting outdoors. Although Jeff changed his focus to computer animation, he continued oil painting and developing both his plein air and studio painting techniques. In 2005 Jeff finished at the Academy earning a Bachelors of Fine Art in Computer Animation.
For the last eight years, Jeff has worked as an artist in the computer game industry. Thus far, Jeff spent the majority of his of his digital arts career as a staff artist at PlayFirst Inc., a company that makes downloadable and mobile computer games. His primary focus was digital painting and illustration. Jeff was instrumental in developing the look and feel of Diner Dash, the company’s premier game.
Jeff has dedicated himself to his fine art career and is now painting full time. Jeff has an innate sense of how to create appealing and dynamic compositions that draw the viewer in. The scenes he depicts sparkle with light and color and evoke a strong mood or a feeling. He has the rare ability to capture the vibrancy of life on canvas.
Jeff currently resides in Alturas, CA with his wife Patti and his chocolate lab, Nutmeg.
